In the fall of 2001, shortly after graduating college, I began traveling the world. Over the last 15 years I’ve made 11 extended backpacking trips to over 45 countries and lived and worked in Thailand, Alaska, Florida, Washington and Colorado. I am currently spending summers in Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska and winters in Bangkok.
Photography and I did not experience love at first sight. Our love affair was like a movie where we started off at odds, spent several years hating each other, then one day fell in love. I took only a handful of photos on my first trip to Europe in 2001, but everything changed when I visited Cuba in the spring of 2003. Inspired by the vibrant street life, colonial buildings, the classic cars – and feeling a strong desire to document life on the “forbidden” island – I burned through several rolls of film. I’ve been taking photos avidly ever since.
